The Guardian Cities | Global city bloggers

Two weeks ago, the Guardian, in collaboration with the Rockefeller Foundation, unveiled a new section of its website — Guardian Cities — so to shine a spotlight on the urbanisation of the world, whilst highlighting resilience, environmental, sustainability, social, and poverty issues…
MovingCities is very pleased to be included! As such we’ve selected 45 urban images from our 460 posts-archive  [see sitemap].

The best city blogs around the world – an interactive guide

To get a better view of what’s really happening across the world, we’re getting to know the local urban voices who cover their home cities most insightfully. Here’s our initial list of friends, from Detroit to Addis Ababa …

Plus, you can follow the global city bloggers on Twitter

Since 2007, MovingCities has been maintaining this site as a means to communicate – our projects, research, cultural and architectural consultancy, publications, book reviews and interviews on architecture and urbanism – and to contribute to the understanding of the state of the city at the beginning of the 21st century. This with the intention to further the knowledge about and insight in China’s current development, but also to go beyond China – and to investigate the role that architecture and urbanism play in shaping the contemporary city – as we’ve been featuring impressions of and insights in cities and people we’ve been collaborating with since.

A big thanks to all of you who have been contributing, supporting and following us in this exploration.

Recently, instagram [@movingcities_org] more closely and instanteously captures our life in and above the cities. Feel free to either subscribe to emails [right side-bar] or to follow us on twitter or instagram and you’ll receive a notification each time we post.

As a couple of the cities we visited during the past years got snowed-under in the cities-and-content-cloud (also on right side-bar), we decided to feature a picture of each city we tagged and photographed since we started MovingCities – from the arctics till the tropics, from deserts till suburban districts…

Being recognized by, and included in the Guardian Cities-website is a great opportunity to dust of our database and submerge ourselves in – and scrolling through – the self-inflicted avalanche [in alphabetical order] of all-things-architecture-and-urban related we created.

One city, one image.
